A Closer Look at Solar Energy in Arizona

Desert House with Solar Panels on RoofArizona Public Service (APS) is a strong supporter of solar. In 2012, we added 148 megawatts (MW), a single-year record for the company and enough electricity to serve more than 35,000 customers. In 2013, APS expects to more than double this number. We rank fourth among American electric utilities for the most solar megawatts added to its system in 2012.

Solar is alive and well in Arizona. Arizona now ranks second nationally in solar installations (first in utility-scale solar projects) and first in solar jobs per capita.

Rooftop solar and net metering raise important issues about cost and fairness for all customers. APS is concerned about the impacts to all of our customers and is working in a public and collaborative manner to address the net metering cost-shifting issue.
